Activities range from local environment clean-up days, workshops on health and hygiene, sports and cultural days to boost communication, interest and social engagement. In collaboration with Integration Centre of Bela Vista and other partners we we developed training programme for unemployed youth to enhance their skills in tourism and hospitality sector such as waitressing, bar and table service, production of arts and crafts from recycled materials.

Capacity building for the self-empowerment of fisher communities in Santiago Island

Together with local fishers we aim to reduce pressure on marine resources to ensure long-term survival of marine species and wellbeing of numerous fisher families. The project aims to diversify fisher income opportunities through the development of sustainable community-based marine tourism ventures coupled with sustainable use of resources and conservation of threatened species and their habitats. To ensure environmental and economic sustainability of the project we aim to develop Market and Business Plans for the small scale community business venture and Code of Conduct for the sea users.
