EXPEDITION CV-CETUS 2025 in partnership with the National Directorate of Environment, in collaboration with the NGO Edmaktub. What an incredible exploration of the Cabo Verdean Ocean. During the two weeks of intensive research, we sighted 5 species of cetaceans, including unforgettable encounters with rough-toothed dolphins, possibly foraging together with tuna in Boa Vista, three species of cetaceans together off the coast of Fogo Island. The marine team did a great job in long hours of observations. A thank you as big as the Big Blue to our collaborators, the team of Edmaktub (Eduard, Alex and Lia!) and, of course, to the catamaran Maktub for being such an incredible research platform. Now, the next step: data analysis, and much more to share.
The expedition is part of the project Strengthening national capacities for the conservation of cetaceans and the management of interactions and anthropogenic impacts, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment of Cabo Verde.
